Overview

The Condado Collection is a collection of hospitality properties in Puerto Rico ranging from classic and modern luxury full-service hotels, to fine dining and entertainment.

Key Responsibilities

  • The Engineering Director plays a pivotal role in leading and managing the engineering team within the organization. This role involves overseeing the design, development, and deployment of engineering solutions, while also providing technical guidance and leadership to the team.
  • Provide strategic leadership to the engineering team, setting clear goals and objectives aligned with the organization's overall vision and mission.
  • Mentor and develop engineering staff, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Plan effective use of capital: manage operating and capital expenditures and create a long-term plan for preventive maintenance and asset protection.
  • Knowledge of budget, PNL’s and Financial Reports.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance to facility regulations and safety standards.
  • Manage and control financial aspects and recommend current best methods for economical facilities operations.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies, trends, and best practices in engineering, and integrate them into the team's workflows where appropriate.
  • Participate in key decision making with the Executive team and work with management team to create and implement the business plan addressing customers, profits, associates, and market.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and quality assurance, to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, proactively addressing issues that may impact project timelines or deliverables.
  • To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and associates.
  • To be able to analyse problems and to formulate plans to get work done quickly including procurement of materials, parts, etc., and necessary scheduling arrangements.
  • Ensure uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, maintain confidentiality of proprietary information.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager; and complete safety training and certifications.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience 8 years in a leadership role within an engineering organization, with a track record of successfully managing and scaling high-performing teams.
  • Extensive knowledge of building trades: Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, Plumbing and General Building
  • Experience in developing and managing operating budgets, capital expenditure planning, project management and life safety systems.
  • Knowledge of facility regulations and safety standards (OHSA, EPA, ADA, CFC, NFPA)
  • Must poses experience in the following areas: Air Conditioning and Refrigeration, Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic/Electronic Systems & Controls, Plumbing, Carpentry & Finish Skills, Kitchen Equipment, General Building.
  • Able to handle difficult situations effectively.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds and have the ability to bend, stop and lift.
  • Fully bilingual in Spanish and English.
