Responsibilities

  • The Team Leader of Stewarding is responsible for supervising and coordinating team activities to ensure that all kitchen areas, utensils, and equipment are kept clean, orderly, and in optimal condition. 
  • Ensure a safe and efficient kitchen environment, supporting culinary and service teams in delivering an exceptional dining experience for our guests. .
  • Supervising and coordinating daily activities of the Stewarding team, ensuring compliance with cleanliness and sanitation standards.
  • Assigning tasks and responsibilities to Stewarding staff, ensuring fair workload distribution.
  • Training and mentoring new team members on cleaning procedures, equipment use, and safety practices.
  • Ensuring all kitchen areas, workstations, equipment, and utensils are clean and well-maintained.
  • Monitoring and maintaining inventory levels of cleaning supplies, utensils, and necessary materials.
  • Collaborating with kitchen and service teams to ensure smooth communication and mutual support in all operations.
  • Regularly inspecting work areas to identify and correct safety risks or maintenance issues.
  • Implementing and enforcing hotel policies and procedures related to safety, hygiene, and sanitation.
  • Participating in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on new industry practices and standards.
  • Assisting in the preparation and service of special events, ensuring all cleaning and organizational requirements are met.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues or immediate attention needs to the Stewarding Manager.
  • Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the director; and complete safety training and certifications. 
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others, support the team to reach common goals, and listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. 

Qualifications

  • Hospitality oriented.
  • Previous experience, min. 2 years in a similar role within the hospitality industry, preferably in a high-volume kitchen environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures in professional kitchens.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Flexibility to work variable hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with different departments.
  • Basic knowledge of management tools and inventory software is an advantage.
  • Should work well under pressure, even with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to bend, squat and stretch, stand for 2-3 hours at a time, lift weighing up to 50 pounds.
